Elma’s defense leads them to victory at State Tournament

The Elma Eagles got the win yesterday and advanced into the final eight for the State Tournament in Yakima.

The Elma Girls used stifling defense to take down Overlake 42-30 to move on to the double elimination portion of the tournament.

The Eagles’ defense dominated the first half as they only gave up one point in the first quarter and only seven in the first half.

Their offense took awhile to heat up though as they only led 16-7 at half time.

They would pick it up in the second half however and they outscored the Owls 26-23 to grab the 12 point win.

Jalyn Sackrider was our player of the game as the WIAA had her with a game high 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Molly Johnston added eight points and seven rebounds and Kali Rambo grabbed 10 boards on the night as well.

Elma will now take on Lynden Christian today at 12:15 p.m. and you can catch all the action on 1490 KWOK and live online at 1490KWOK.com.
